On 3/20/2013 I came across a sad situation at 1031 Cotton Street, Oakland, California. A whole bunch of arcade games that were offered for free, but someone/people had come through and broken off the tube neck and taken the boards for metal. I would later learn that the tenant was evicted and remaining games were being flattened end of day and placed in a dumpster to clear the place out. There were supposedly 252 games destroyed, most of them classic from the golden era. The place smelled of cat piss everywhere by the way.
When I went to look at a SEGA Nascar 2 in San Jose, the arcade dealer told me he had collected games for the tenant. The tenant was a former Grateful Dead roadie and made his money by selling collectible concert stubs and unused tickets. The tenant had a weird habit of randomly kicking the games and gutting components (like the glass) and stacking them.
